Betty Jane Scott Lee
June 19, 1918 – April 22, 2020
Betty Jane Scott Lee of Helen, Georgia passed away April 22. She lived a long life enjoying her family, friends and the North Georgia Mountains in her later years. She was 101.
Mrs. Lee was born June 1918 in Macomb, IL to the late Asa P. and Ethel Harlan Scott. Betty spent many years raising a family in Miami, FL with her husband Bill Lee. She was a homemaker and secretary during her lifetime. Her greatest enjoyment came from reading, sewing and her painting. She was one of the original fellows of the Diane Mize Art Studio, enjoying the learning and fellowship for many years. She continued to paint and draw into her 90’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William M. Lee (Bill) of Helen, sons William “Monty” Lee, Jr., David Scott Lee both of Miami, FL, and her brother Harlan Scott of Milton, FL.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Arnold Lasris, Helen, GA; grandson, Daniel Lasris(Teresa), New Port Richey, FL; nieces; Sue Bussart(Bob), Dahlonega, GA. Kathleen Shelby(Bud), Woodland Park, CO; Debra Roland(Thomas), Jay, FL. Three of her favorite people were Lynn Percy, Dianne Mize and the late Howard Hanson. Special thanks go to her longtime home caregivers Alice Eades, Rene Boutwell and Marilyn Gregorash.
Mrs. Lee will be cremated. Due to the COVID 19 shelter-in-place requirements no service will be held.
