Joan Lee Rochester, 80, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2021, at NE Georgia Medical Center. She was the daughter of Opal Rochester and the late Crockett Rochester.
Born in Memphis, Joan spent her early years in Byhalia, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents; aunts and uncles; cousin Dennis Rochester; and her special friend Derryl Nolen.
Joan graduated as valedictorian of Byhalia High School and was an honor student at Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. After receiving her training as a medical technologist, she worked at hospitals in the Atlanta area for many years. She was a committed Christian. She loved her family and it gave her great pleasure to hear from her four great-nephews and three great-nieces.
Joan is survived by her mother, Opal Rochester of Waynesville, North Carolina; her brother Jimmy Rochester and his wife, Joanne, of Clyde, North Carolina; nephew Jason Rochester and his wife, Cathryn, of Okinawa, Japan; niece Joanna Campos and her husband, John, of Converse, Texas; several great- nephews and nieces; cousins Jan Knight and her husband, Joe; David Rochester and his wife, Leslie; Dawn Tripodi; and special friend, Ebbon Stanley.
